Christmas morning!

Santa brought Lilly this darling polka-dot tea set.

Lilly immediately served Uncle Jimmy.

He played the part well don't you think?

Lilly is learning her letters and was very excited

to get these letter puzzles

Madi is enjoying her presents too!

She loves her new bath toys and games.

Lilly liked her 'Guess Who?' game.

Staci liked her presents too!

Isaac got a new scarf and some spiffy looking sunglasses.

Christmas Eve

On Christmas eve, the girls could open two presents,

the one with new jammies of course, and

the one from Grandma GiGi,

so it could be on the tree for Santa to see.

Lilly was so excited she was big enough to bring in Santa's milk.

Madi is so proud of the cute cookies they made!

The girls are positive their cookies are going to

be Santa's favorite in the whole world!

Cookies for Santa

Even the Elders joined in the fun.

Although theirs weren't cute little snowman cookies...

And what were our cute little girls doing while everyone else was making their cookies?

Why EATING them of course!

The Elders decided the girls had a good idea.

(But then they are teenage boys after all, isn't eating ALWAYS a good idea?)

Shopping, something like that anyway....

Since we were at the mall for Santa, we decided to stop in

and see what Staci could find.

She found a pretty black dress and a pant suit.

Jimmy ended up with some shoes too. While they were trying on and deciding,

dad and I watched the girls. They were so BORED!!!

But they managed to figure out one or two things to keep occupied.

Finally all the shopping was finished and it was time to go home!

When all else fails, find a friend and run!

We saw Santa!

decorations around Santa.

Lilly wouldn't sit on his lap, but she did talk to him.

and she wasn't about to smile.

They enjoyed seeing him though!

Some of our history

As far as I know, most of the Golding family records were burned in the Civil War. From doing a quick search I have found them coming to America from several countries, Russia, Germany, England and France to name the most common. The Burnett's have a little more general information, one source saying the name is a Scottish and English name derived from an old French word 'brunete' meaning brown. I also found a cool book, "The Burnett Name in History". It has facts, statistics, and commentary about the name "as far back in history as possible". Whether it is about 'our' Burnett's or not, I guess remains to be seen. The Shelton side, is mainly Danish and some Scottish. The Pickering's are English; and the Smith's are Irish and Welch. What a mix we are! But that is what makes us the crazy, lovable family we all have grown to be. More recently, Dad's side is from Utah through and through. Mom's side is mostly Utahn, with just the one California renegade. :) Amazingly enough, we have great-grandfathers and great-grandmothers from Alabama(Dad's side), and Pennsylvania (Mom's side). I'm not exactly sure where in Alabama, but Mom's ancestors are very close to where Staci and Isaac are. Kind of interesting how things revolve around the past isn't it? So there's a little history in a nutshell, and hopefully at some point there will be lots more to come!
